Baccarat is a points based game just like Blackjack where the person with the most points at the end of the game wins. Each card is worth the same amount of points as in Blackjack where a face card is worth 10, an ace 1/11 and a 7 worth 7 etc. The difference in this game is how the cards are dealt and how you total up the points. When it comes to getting your final score in Baccarat you add up the points of all your cards to get a number and then take the final digit of that number to be your final score. A simple example of this would be getting dealt two kings which in Blackjack would make you 20 and you’d stick. In Baccarat however you only take the final digit of your added numbers so that 20 becomes 0 which is the lowest score in the game. The highest score you can make is 9 so a starting hand of 4 and 5 is the best you could hope for.
The game of live Baccarat begins with both the dealer and the player being dealt two face up cards each and having their cards totalled to get their current score. If at this point of the game either part has been dealt a total of 8 or 9 the job’s done and the party with the highest score wins. You can get a tied game in Baccarat so if two players end up with the same score the result is a tie.
If neither party had an 8 or a 9 then the player will take one more card and depending on what the player drew and what score the dealer currently has will determine whether or not they also take one. There’s a simple chart at every Baccarat table telling you when the dealer takes another card and when he doesn’t so you don’t need to worry about anything like that. Once this round has been passed the scores are taken and the person with the highest score ends up the winner.
As you may have noticed there aren’t any decisions that need to be made in live Baccarat as the game plays out itself. This is actually good news for the player as not only does it mean you can’t make any mistakes, but it also means the casino can let you bet on either yourself, the dealer, or a draw to occur so you don’t necessarily have to root for yourself to win in this game!
